2. We are thrilled that Nevada County has received federal funding to provide defensible space assistance to home owners who are elderly or disabled and low-income. The program is currently in the initial stages and the Office of Emergency Services will share updates as more information becomes available.    Applicants should be prepared to provide proof of age, medical disability, or income. Income qualification is based on Federal Poverty Guidelines. Seniors are defined as individuals who are aged 65 years or older. At this time, the program is limited to property owners.
