Scam Alert: EBT Text Messages

A red box above a cell phone holds a yellow warning sign that says Scam Alert!

The Nevada County Social Services Department has received reports that scammers have been sending text messages asking community members to provide personal information about their EBT cards. The County and State will NEVER text or call you to ask for your EBT card number or PIN (personal identification number).
If you are unsure if a message is legitimate, do not respond. If you need more information or you are the victim of a scam, contact Nevada County Social Services at (530) 265-1340, visit, or call the state EBT customer service line at (877) 328-9677.
