Tire Amnesty Event October 24-28 to Reduce Illegal Dumping in Nevada County

To reduce illegal dumping Nevada County, Grass Valley, and Nevada City residents can dispose of up to nine tires at no cost at select locations during the week of October 24-28 from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm at various locations throughout Nevada County – see below for locations and dates. 

Commercial tires, tractor tires, and tires with rims will not be accepted. If you have more than nine tires, please contact the Nevada County Department of Environmental Health at 530-265-1467 to request an exemption

This event is sponsored by Nevada County, Waste Management, the Bureau of Land Management's California State Office and Mother Lode Field Office, and the Tahoe National Forest. Check out the Waste Management flyer or photos of it below.

What kind of tires can I bring?

Tires are not accepted from businesses and no tractor or commercial tires or tires with rims are allowed. Nevada County residents can dispose of up to nine tires at no cost at the following locations:

Dates and Locations

October 24-25, 8:00am – 2:00pm: 

Waste Management-McCourtney Road Transfer Station & Recycling Center, 14741 Wolf Mountain Road, Grass Valley, CA  95949

October 26, 8:00am – 2:00pm:

Penn Valley Rodeo (behind the fire station), 10153 Spenceville Road, Penn Valley, CA  95946

October 27, 8:00am – 2:00pm:  

Waste Management-North San Juan Transfer Station, 10125 Flume St., North San Juan, CA  95960

October 28, 8:00am – 2:00pm:

Waste Management-Washington Transfer Station, 15886 Gaston Road, Washington, CA  95986

Have more than 9 tires?

Individuals who wish to dispose of more than nine tires must request an exemption letter from the Nevada County Department of Environmental Health by calling (530) 265-1467.
