The August 23rd meeting of the board of supervisors, which was held in Truckee, highlighted some innovative and exciting initiatives taking place in Nevada County’s largest town. From the Town of Truckee implementing a new and expanded bike share program, aimed at reducing the number of cars on the roads and increasing visitor engagement with the business community, to Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship working to expand Truckee’s already impressive network of trails, Truckee is churning with cutting edge projects that will produce attractive amenities for both residents and visitors.
We also heard from the Truckee Watershed Council about their critical work – some of it in partnership with Nevada County – to protect the Middle Truckee River Watershed, which consists of all the land, streams, rivers and meadows from Tahoe Dam to the California Nevada state line—all flowing into the Truckee River.
