Today, the Nevada County Board of Supervisors recognized Nevada Union High School senior Anthony Pritchett for his outstanding leadership as the Student Member of the Nevada Joint Union High School District Board of Trustees and his excellence in academics and athletics.

"We are very excited to be offering this award to you," said Supervisor Heidi Hall, who presented the award to Pritchett. "It's been a challenging year to serve on a school board so the job you took on was huge, and we acknowledge your courage and leadership to step up to that challenge. We look forward to seeing what you take on in your next chapter!"

"Thank you so much for this opportunity. Serving on the Board of Trustees was a very rewarding experience," said Pritchett at the meeting. "I encourage everyone to get involved and speak up on important issues, so your voice is heard."

Pritchett is a model leader in our community. His leadership profoundly impacted the outcomes of many critical policies that came before the Board.

“Anthony has demonstrated extraordinary leadership as a Student Member on the Nevada Joint Union High School District’s Board of Trustees.  He provided a voice for students and represented their interests with distinction and professionalism”, added County Executive Officer Alison Lehman. "I look forward to seeing what Anthony does next at UC Berkeley, my alma mater."

"Student Board members are elected by their peers among our five campuses. The student Board members participate in all policy matters and are actively engaged. Mr. Pritchett was an integral member during meetings this past year," said Nevada Joint Union High School District Superintendent Brett McFadden. "It's been exciting to watch Mr. Pritchett grow. We wish him the very best and want him to know he always has a home here."

Pritchett was named Valedictorian and top of his class at Nevada Union High School, with a stellar academic record. He will attend the University of California, Berkeley, in the fall of 2022. Anthony is also a standout in enduro mountain bike racing and races with the local You Bet Gravity Racing Team in Nevada City, recently finishing tenth overall in the TDS Enduro race, which attracts professional riders from around the world.
