Nevada County, the Regional Housing Authority, and residents celebrated the completion of the Lone Oak senior housing development in Penn Valley on Tuesday, August 17. Lone Oak provides 31 units of affordable housing for Nevada County’s lower income seniors and is located at 10584 Broken Oak Court in Penn Valley. The housing development contains features such as a dog park, community garden, community room, fitness room, and a computer room. Residents began moving in in July and all units are currently full. Rental rates are based on income; residents can earn up to 60% of the area median income and still be eligible for a unit, with no minimum income limits.
Lone Oak senior housing is one of eight developments in planning, active construction, or completion since 2017. Other projects currently in planning or active construction include Cashin’s Field with 51 affordable housing units slated to be completed in December 2022, Brunswick Commons with 41 units targeted for homeless individuals and scheduled for completion in February 2022, Empire Mine Cottages with 22 units scheduled for completion in early 2022 for homeless individuals, The Ranch House with 6 units of permanent supportive housing to be completed in November 2022, and 6 units of criminal justice diversion housing to be completed in November 2021.
