- Public Records Request
The public's right to access public records created and maintained by the County is understood and embraced in Nevada County. Nevada County strives to provide services and records in a transparent manner, which includes timely access to requested records in accordance with the California Public Records Act (Gov’t Code Section 6250, et seq and more information on section 6253.)
Public records generally include any writing containing information relating to the conduct of the public's business that is prepared, owned, used, or retained by County of Nevada, subject to certain exceptions. Public records are open to inspection by the general public upon reasonable request during regular office hours, except for holidays.
If you are requesting hard copies, there is a charge of $0.10 per page, payable prior to the release of the records. There may be additional charges for storage devices and programming costs for documents provided in certain electronic formats.
