How to Suggest a Purchase
Please review the type of purchase options below. We make every effort to accommodate your suggestion, but cannot guarantee the purchase of the materials requested. If you prefer, you may also visit or call your local branch during library hours to suggest an item for purchase.
Complete the Suggest a Purchase Form for new fiction book requests. We consider all requests for purchase. However, due to the high volume or requests received, we are unable to respond regarding the status of your request. If you would like to be on the hold list if the material is purchased, please include your name and library card number on the form as requested.

Nevada County Library offers Link+ , a free service allowing patrons to borrow materials not available in our collection. Link+ is a cooperative resource sharing effort between over 60 California libraries, both public and academic. You can use your Nevada County Library card to place a hold in the Link+ catalog on a title owned by any member library.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, ILL requests could see delayed response/delivery times or potentially not be filled at all. Complete an Interlibrary Loan Request form online or request at any of our library branches.
- This is only for materials that are not in the Nevada County Library catalog.
- A $3 search fee is currently suspended and will not be collected if the item request is filled.
- Loan periods are set by the lending library and are usually 2-8 weeks. Allow 10-14 days for delivery. Renewals are dependent on the approval of the lending library. If you wish to renew your interlibrary loan materials, please email us several days prior to the due date to request a renewal.
Zip Books, a program funded by the California State Library, is a way for individuals to request books the Library doesn't own, an innovative alternative to the traditional interlibrary loan or purchase suggestions. You may request a book or an audiobook that is not available through the Nevada County Library to be delivered to your home, free of charge. The item is shipped directly to you using Amazon Prime.
To be eligible
- The book must not be available in the Nevada County Library catalog.
- The program does not apply to items published in the current year or best sellers.
- The book must be available through Amazon, and cost no more than $50 (pre-tax) or $75 for audiobooks or foreign language items.
- Your account must be in good standing, with no outstanding Zip Book items.
