Nevada County partners with the Department of Veterans Affairs to host veterans both as college students under the VA Work-study program and Non-Paid Veterans Work Experience. Nevada County develops custom made to order Veterans internships to meet your career aspirations.

Veteran “Student” Paid Internships 

Veterans work-study program can help students earn money who are enrolled in a college, a vocational school, or professional training program. The VA Work-Study Allowance Program offers an additional non-taxable allowance to students in return for performing VA-related activities. It serves as a supplemental VA education benefit and often provides the additional funding that allows a student to pursue and accomplish educational goals. Non-Paid Work Experience Program

The VA Non-Paid Work Experience (NPWE) program provides eligible Veterans and Servicemembers with training and practical job experience. This program is ideal for Veterans and Servicemembers who have clear career goals. It’s also beneficial for those who learn well in a hands-on setting and may have had a hard time getting a job due to lack of experience.
