In November 2021, Nevada County sponsored its first annual Military Appreciation Week, honoring all active duty, reservists, retired, veterans and Gold Star Families in the county.  The Military Appreciation Program is an ongoing program with the goal to engage community businesses by signing up and continuing to honor our military by providing discounts or special offers.

The 2nd annual Military Appreciation Week, in 2022, with the Saturday before Veterans Day through the Sunday following Veterans Day: Saturday, November 5th - Sunday, November 13th.

Military Appreciation Week is a collaborative effort with the Nevada County Consolidated Veterans Council, Beale AFB, Nevada County Board of Supervisors, The City of Grass Valley, local Chambers of Commerce (Grass Valley, Nevada City, Truckee, and Penn Valley), The Grass Valley Downtown Association, Sierra Harvest, The Nevada County Economic Resource Council, and The Union.

Businesses may register their discounts and special offers to active duty military, reservists, veterans, and Gold Star parents by completing the Military Appreciation Business Application.

The businesses on the Registered Military Appreciation Discount List have registered discounts and special offers for veterans and Gold Star parents who show accepted forms of identification.

This list is not a complete list of all who provide discounts; it will change frequently and businesses reserve the right to change the offer at any time. Veterans and Gold Star Families are advised to show businesses an acceptable form of identification and to ask if discounts are available.
