The Nevada County Library system consists of six library branches. Five of the branches have circulating collections and one houses the non-circulating historical reference collection. The Madelyn Helling Library is the main branch library, including administrative services.

The Doris Foley Library for Historical Research is a non-circulating branch of the Nevada County Library system.
The Grass Valley Library - Royce Branch is an historic Carnegie library listed in the National Register of Historic Places. It is located in the heart of downtown Grass Valley.
The Madelyn Helling Library is the main branch of the Nevada County Library system, located near the Eric Rood Government Center in Nevada City.
The Penn Valley Library is the newest branch of the Nevada County Library system and is located on Pleasant Valley Road across from the main entrance to Lake Wildwood.
The Truckee Library, located in Eastern Nevada County, is located near the Joseph Government Center and Tahoe Forest Hospital.

The Nevada County Law Library is the primary depository of legal reference materials for the County of Nevada. It provides open access of these resources to all members of the community. The Law Library is not affiliated with the Nevada County Libraries. Their phone number is 530-362-5329.
