Firewise Communities - We Are the Solution 

Firewise Communities raise awareness, organize at the community level, coordinate work parties, and take action to create fire-adapted communities through the implementation of defensible space standards.    

The Fire Safe Council of Nevada County coordinates the Firewise Communities USA program. The mission of the Fire Safe Council is to reduce the risk of life and property loss from wildfire.
