Nevada County is located in the Sierra Foothills. We are surrounded by hiking and biking trails and are close to some of the best white water in the world. In addition, in winter, skiing is just a short car ride away.
When we have openings in these positions, they will be posted on the county’s Human Resources website. Initial screening is performed by the Human Resources department. Those applicants who meet the minimum qualifications will have their applications forwarded to the Public Defender’s Office.
When we have temporary positions available, they are posted on the county’s Human Resources website. Hiring is done in the same manner as Criminal Attorney I, II, and III.
If you have passed the California Bar Exam and have received your bar card, you can volunteer as an attorney in this office. Depending on your availability, you would likely find yourself with a misdemeanor caseload with the opportunity to do hearings and trials, amongst other opportunities.
